The Handspring Puppet Company has joined forces with Bristol Old Vic to present a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

 

PERFORMANCES

“My Friend’s Story,” preview of a new opera by Yale faculty members Martin Bresnik (music), J.D. McClatchy (libretto), and David Chambers (director), inspired by Chekhov’s short story, “Terror.” 8 p.m. (Also: June 20, 8 p.m.) Info.

AS220 Criss Cross Orchestra on the Green, an ensemble that plays an eclectic style of original dance music. Noon. Free. Info.

After Autumn on the Green, a rock/pop acoustic quartet. 6 p.m. Free. Info.

“The Quiet Volume,” an intimate theatrical experience about books, reading, and the communal experience of the library. 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with new shows beginning each half hour. (Also: June 20-21 and June 25-28, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.) Info.

“String Quartet Truck,” the New Haven String Quartet will perform on a flatbed truck at locations throughout the city. Noon & 2:30 p.m. (Also: June 20–21, noon & 2:30 p.m.) Free. Info.

Three Yale faculty members collaborated on the premiere of the new opera “My Friend’s Story,” based on Checkhov’s short story “Terror.”
