The Yale Administration office has launched a new website, Eli Surplus Exchange, which makes it possible for all Yale offices, and laboratories to purchase, sell, or exchange furniture, equipment, or other items.

Items on the new Eli Surplus Exchange include unopened chemicals to office furniture, laboratory supplies, and more.

The goal of Eli Surplus Exchange is to help University departments make better use of their surplus equipment and save money when procuring new supplies, while also supporting Yale’s sustainability goals of recycling and reuse.

Before purchasing new office or lab equipment or supplies, department managers can first check the surplus exchange program to see if what they want is listed there. Among the items currently listed are office supplies, unopened chemicals, furniture and lab equipment available. Many of these are available for free.

The site was designed for easy use and navigation, and is open only to Yale affiliates. Users need to log into the Central Authorization Service to purchase or exchange items. The website is meant for department exchanges only. Personal items cannot be listed; for those services, see the YaleNews Classifieds or YaleStation.

Currently, the type of items that can be on the website are limited; however, the Yale Administration office may expand the program in the future. See the Eli Exchange Program Policy for additional details.
