A rural Irish village is turned upside down by the arrival of an American film crew in Marie Jones’ comedy “Stones in His Pockets” — the next play in the Yale Repertory Theatre’s season.

When Charlie and Jake (played by Euan Morton and Fred Arsenault, respectively) are cast as extras in the movie, they discover that Hollywood’s romanticized Ireland stands in stark contrast to the reality of their daily lives.

Winner of London’s Olivier Award for Best Comedy, “Stones in His Pockets” is staged by OBIE Award-winning resident director Evan Yionoulis. The actors — Arsenault, who made his Yale Rep debut earlier this season in “Marie Antoinette,” and Morton, who is a Tony Award nominee for his role as Boy George in “Taboo” — play “more than a dozen eccentric characters, from the film’s spoiled American starlet to the star-struck locals,” note the organizers.

The play will be performed Jan. 25-Feb. 16 at the Yale Repertory Theatre, 1120 Chapel St. Opening Night is Thursday, Jan. 31.

“Stones in His Pockets” features scenic and projection design by Edward T. Morris, costumes by Nikki Delhomme, lighting by Solomon Weisbard, sound by Matt Otto, dramaturgy by Sarah Krasnow, vocal coaching by Stephen Gabis, and stage management by Nicole Marconi.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with additional 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays, Feb. 2, 9 (which is open-captioned), and 15 (an audio-described show), and on Wednesday, Feb. 6, which will be preceded by a reception for senior citizens at 1 p.m. There is one Monday performance, on Jan. 28. Other special events include a 7 p.m. reception for graduate students on Saturday, Jan. 26; a reception for senior citizens at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6; Talk Back conversations with members of the cast and crew following the Saturday matinee shows on Feb. 2 and 9; and Post-Show Conversations on Friday, Jan. 25; Tuesday,
