A celebration of the life of Ruth Barcan Marcus, professor emeritus of philosophy, will be held at Yale on Saturday, Sept. 29.
Marcus, a pioneer in the field of logic and metaphysics who gave her name to a groundbreaking formula of symbolic logic, was a key figure in philosophical debates. She died in February at the age of 90.
Yale’s Department of Philosophy is hosting the celebration, which will begin at 2 p.m. in Sudler Recital Hall in William L. Harkness Hall, 100 Wall St. A reception will follow.
