Twenty-three senior health practitioners and researchers from South Africa, Liberia, Ethiopia, and Ghana have gathered at Yale for this year’s Global Health Leadership Institute (GHLI) conference, June 4-8.

The annual conference is designed to facilitate collaborative, locally driven solutions in strengthening health systems among participating delegates. This year’s conference will focus on health system issues around mental health, maternal and child health, and management capacity building.

Each country’s delegation — comprised of senior leadership from ministries of health, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions — brings a health system challenge to address at the conference. Working with Yale faculty and experts, the delegates learn to apply tools of strategic problem solving to national health priorities

Keynote speakers will include: Zack Cooper, health economist at the London School of Economics and contributing writer to The Huffington Post and The Guardian; Patrick Geoghegan, chief executive, South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust; Linda Lorimer, Yale University vice president and secretary; and Yale University President Richard Levin.

The GHLI Conference is supported by The Glaser Progress Foundation and the Hecht-Albert Global Health Fund. The Yale Global Health Leadership Institute develops leadership through research, education, policy, and practice that promotes health equity and quality of care for all.
