Four lost souls reunite in a remote town as a tragic accident reveals the township’s mysterious history in the world premiere of Christina Anderson’s “Good Goods” — the next play to be staged by the Yale Repertory Theatre.
Set amidst the clutter of a family-owned general store, the play is a love story that blurs the line between body and spirit.
Directed by Tina Landau, “Good Goods” will be performed Feb. 3-25 at the Yale Rep, 1120 Chapel St. at York Street.
Cast members include Oberon K.A. Adjepong, de’Adre Aziza, Kyle Beltran, Clifton Duncan, Marc Damon Johnson, and Angela Lewis. The play features sets by James Schuette, costumes by Toni-Leslie James, lighting by Scott Zielinski, sound by Junghoon Pi, dramaturgy by Amy Boratko and Alexandra Ripp, vocal and dialect coaching by Jane Guyer Fujita, and stage management by Maria Cantin.
Anderson was selected by American Theatre magazine as an “up-and-coming” artist “whose work will be transforming America's stages for decades to come.” Her plays — which include “Drip,” “Hollow Roots,” “Blacktop Sky,” “Inked Baby,” and “Man in Love” — have been produced by or developed with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Playwrights Horizons, American Conservatory Theater, and The Public Theater, among many others.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with additional 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays, Feb. 11, 18 (an open-captioned performance), and 25 (an audio-described show), and on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
