Publication Studio, a group that bills itself as "a maker and destroyer of books," will be in residence in New Haven through Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Coop Center for Creativity, 196 College St.
Co-sponsored by the Beinecke Rarebook and Manuscript Library at Yale and ArtSpace New Haven, the event is being presented in conjunction with the upcoming ArtSpace exhibition “Library Science.”
Members of Publication Studio will work with students from Yale and Co-op High School to produce two special books, offer daily demonstrations to the public on the art of printing-on-demand, present lectures, and host a book rebinding party.
Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2009, Publication Studio is an experiment in sustainable publication that has branched into six independent sibling studios around North America. They print and bind on demand, quickly creating original books with writers and artists, including Dodie Bellamy, Matt Keegan, and Pravin J. Jain.
