Iwasaki receives Eli Lilly research award
Akiko Iwasaki, professor of immunobiology and molecular, cell and developmental biology, has been selected to receive the 2012 Eli Lilly and Company Research Award. Iwasaki’s research focuses on innate viral recognition mechanisms and their link to adaptive immunity.
The award, the oldest and most prestigious prize from the American Society for Microbiology, rewards “fundamental research of unusual merit in microbiology or immunology by an individual on the threshold of his or her career,” according to the ASM website.
The award includes a $5000 cash prize. Iwasaki will receive the award next June.
