“Luminous Transportations,” a site-specific installation by artist Jo Yarrington, will be on view through April 27 in Marquand Chapel at Yale Divinity School (YDS), 409 Prospect St.

The work consists of a ribbon of 80 translucent photographs that wrap around the chapel’s interior, fitted into its windowpanes.

Yarrington, a professor of studio art in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Fairfield University, describes the imagery, taken over the last 20 years, as an attempt to “capture and retain through photography, random but compelling experiences in which I explored the nature of spirituality.”

The artist’s drawing, photographs and architecturally based installations have been shown nationally in such spaces as The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and the National Museum of Catholic Art, both in New York City. She has also exhibited in Italy, Mexico, Germany and Scotland.

The exhibition is curated by author and architectural historian Judith Dupré, an M.Div. candidate at YDS and the Institute of Sacred Music, who says the exhibition “conjures life’s fragmentary and ephemeral nature, and how we grasp, lose and refashion ourselves and sense of place — individually, in community and over time.”

General hours for viewing the installation are weekdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., although visitors should call in advance (203-432-5303) to confirm precise visitation times. Chapel services are held weekdays 10:30-11:30 a.m. and are open to the public.
